Music Mondays: New Union Contract Benefits Video Performers

SAG-AFTRA is setting a tone with their new three-year music video agreement with major record labels to be voted upon this October. We will have to wait until after the union’s review and vote, but they have stated that performers are gaining significant economic and safety guarantees. Seven major labels have signed-on to this agreement, Warner RecordsAtlantic Records, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Capitol Records and Hollywood Records (Disney).

“It was an intense negotiation, but in the end the labels and our negotiating team were able to find a shared path toward the future. I’m proud of the process and look forward to joining my fellow members in working under these new contract terms,” said Danielle Towne, dancer and national chair of the music video negotiating Committee.
