Music Monday: Grunge Legal Battle Over Iconic 90s Master Tapes


d1716b6a-dfda-11e4-b8da-b4066da9547e1-1020x1036-1Grunge has emerged from the era of plaid and oversized denim to dominate legal music news today: A&M Records has filed a lawsuit against Rajan Parashar to turn over the master tapes for the 1991 album “Temple of the Dog”. Parashar and his late brother Rick were the founders of London Bridge Studios, which produced the album. The rights to the master tapes is an especially important one in this case, as “Temple of the Dog” featured members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, iconic grunge bands. A&M Records is requesting Parashar turn over the master tapes immediately, while his lawyer is insisting that they are indeed Parashar’s property.
