Warner Bros Studios may sue over cafe’s Harry Potter cakes

Film giant Warner Bros has threatened a family-run café with legal action over its Harry Potter -themed afternoon teas, it has been claimed.

The Flower Café says the global entertainment firm has forced the small city business to change the name of its Potter-themed events.

The cafe in Plymouth claims it was contacted by solicitors acting on behalf of the American entertainment company yesterday.

They say they have been asked to change the name of their events due to copyright infringement laws.

As a result, the Harry Potter-themed tea will now be known as ‘Wizards Afternoon Tea’, the Plymouth Herald reports.

Warner Bros has been contacted but is yet to provide a comment.

A statement on The Flower Café’s Facebook page read: ” Due to some ‘delightful’ person contacting Warner Bros. & the infringement of “copyright” & those pesky “licensing laws”, our tiny little family run cafe has been advised to change the name of one of our Afternoon Teas – so it will now be known as a “Wizards Afternoon Tea” but it will still be just as magical & yummy!

“We will now patiently await an email or call from the Big Guy in the North Pole to tell us we are unable to use the wording “Christmas Afternoon Tea”.

The owners of the café are still awaiting a final confirmation from Warner Bros’ solicitors before they can give an official comment, but are understood to be flabbergasted by the decision.
