“They pretty much basically stole my story,” said Samantha Barbash. “I wouldn’t sign my rights away… I wasn’t giving up my TV and film rights for peanuts. J. Lo doesn’t work for free. Why would I? I’m a businesswoman.”
Barbash is the person who inspired Jennifer Lopez‘s character in the movie Hustlers, a role that has Oscar buzz about it. Barbash is taking Jeniffer Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican Productions, to court to set the record straight and for using her image without consent.
Barbash spoke to TMZ in September 2019, about her concerns over the film suggesting she was “using and manufacturing illegal substances in her home where she lived with her child.” For these reasons, the lawsuit seeks $40 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
