With anticipation building as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them shall be hitting theaters in the coming weeks, it was just revealed that Warner Brothers studios have big plans for this franchise. As if following the Harry Potter series didn’t put on enough pressure, J.K. Rowling announced that there are expectations that this film is just the first of a five-film franchise.
Although in the Harry Potter series J.K. Rowling took a back seat as she allowed screenwriters to develop the screenplays, this time around she took the onus of writing the screenplay for the film herself. That only adds to the suspense of this highly anticipated film. The Harry Potter series was highly successful and there was always speculation to keep the ball rolling. Well, this universe is finally expanding and better yet we now know that there will be several movies down the road.
Interestingly enough it seems that each of the Fantastic Beasts films will present a different twist to the franchise. Unlike in Harry Potter, where the primary setting was Hogwarts for every film, the tentative plan is to set the sequel in a novel locale. Whether or not that idea sticks throughout each of the subsequent films will be determined by the turnout and reviews of this film and the sequel. Expectations are high and everyone involved is aware let’s hope this franchise is a hit!
