Film Fridays: “Cuties” Gets Netflix In Trouble In Texas

Netflix’s controversy around their movie, Cuties, is on-going. First, Netflix apologized after for the “admittedly inappropriate artwork.”   After it’s rollout, the film was the center of heavy criticism and petitions aiming the movie poster. A Texas grand jury is now threatening a lawsuit against Netflix under the state law forbidding “the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of an unclothed, partially clothed, or clothed child.”  In response to the lawsuit, Netflix has said, “Cuties is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children.
